I have received a letter asking me to complete a W8-Ben or W-9 form, which should I complete?

Form W-8BEN
• You should complete this form if you are not a citizen of the US and if you are not resident in the US for US tax purposes.
• Please complete lines 1, 2, 3 and, if your mailing address is different from your residence address, line 4 of Part I of the W-8BEN form and sign and date it in Part III.
• Please do not complete Part II.

W-8BEN tax forms are subject to renewal every 3 years and we will contact you again at that time.

Form W-9
• You should complete this form if you are resident in the United States for US tax purposes or if you are a citizen of the US, including if you were born in the US, regardless of whether you are resident in another country.
• You must include your U.S. social security number.
• On receipt of a completed Form W-9, JP Morgan Trustee and Administration Services Ltd will, on an annual basis report to the IRS, under Form 1099 reporting requirements, all redemptions that you make from your account, and any dividends that are paid to you or reinvested in your account, although no U.S. tax is required to be withheld provided the W-9 includes your U.S. social security number.

W-9 forms are not subject to renewal unless your circumstances change

Click on ‘Current Forms & Pubs’ then type ‘Form W-8Ben’ or ‘Form W-9’ in the search box
