What is UK Reporting Funds Status ('UK RFS')?

'UK RFS' is the status an offshore fund which allows the investor to have capital gains tax treatment on disposal.  The equivalent tax status historically was UK Distributor Status - although the conditions to qualify for these ae different, they achieve the same key end result for UK investors as they will allow them to have Capital Gains Tax (CGT) treatment on disposal of their offshore fund holding.

Without this treatment, disposals will be subject to an Income Tax treatment.  Here the income tax rates for basic, higher and additional rates will apply as opposed to the flat CGT rates.

The value of your investments and the income from them can go down and up, and you may not get back as much as you paid in. Tax benefits and liabilities depend on individual circumstances and may change in the future.
